    CAMDEN, N.J. - The University of Connecticut women's rowing varsity eight and second varsity eight boats both qualified for the third level final to lead the Huskies at the Knecht Cup on Saturday and Sunday. The two boats advanced through heats and semifinals on Saturday to advance to the Sunday third final.

    The varsity eight was fifth in the third final in a time of 7:03.02 as Old Dominion won the race followed by Drexel, George Mason and Rutgers while the Huskies topped UMass. The Husky varsity eight was 17th out of the total of 34 boat entered.

    That UConn boat was junior Charlotte Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.), junior Natalie Carlone (Fort Washington, Pa.), senior Hillary Wiles-Lafayette (Litchfield, Conn.), sophomore Kathryn Hughes (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), senior Caitlin Swallow (South Glastonbury, Conn.), junior Julia Roth (Weston, Conn.), junior Kendra Kohanski (East Lyme, Conn.), senior Brittany DePoi (Brookfield, Conn.) and senior Adrienne Barrett (West Granby, Conn.).

    The UConn second varsity eight finished four in a time of 7:06.67 in their third final as it finished 16th overall out of 30 crews entered. Wisconsin won the third final followed by Duquesne and Temple and the Huskies topped Delaware and Boston College.

    The second varsity eight was sophomore Elise McCormick (Glastonbury, Conn.), senior Melissa Soucie (Avon, Conn.), junior Erin Mounce (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), junior Ashley West (Dudley, Mass.), freshman Audrey Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.), sophomore Abbie Viner (Stratford, Conn.), sophomore Laura Webster (Seymour, Conn.), sophomore Amanda Litty (Bethesda, Md.) and junior Chelsea Zabel (Guilford, Conn.).

    The UConn novice eight advanced from their heat to the semifinal, but did not race out of the semifinals. Rowing for UConn was freshman Marissa Minor (Lisbon, Conn.), freshman Peri Stevens (Suffield, Conn.), sophomore Stephanie Varanelli (Bethlehem, Conn), freshman Megan Duva (Glastonbury, Conn.), freshman Meghan Pirsig (Glastonbury, Conn.), freshman Brittany Shakley (Litchfield, Conn.), freshman Alyssa Hopson (Windsor, Conn.), freshman Emily Wilson (Putney, Vt.) and freshman Taylor Hammeke (Tolland, Conn.).

    The second varsity four A advanced from its heat to the semifinal, but did not advance -- missing qualifying for Sunday's races by 1.2 seconds. Rowing for UConn were junior Emi Nishino (Holden, Mass.), sophomore Doe Bajguz (Naugatuck, Conn.), sophomore Teresa Starzecki (Shelton, Conn), senior Amber Crispino (Marion, Conn.), junior Abigail Lowry (Groton, Conn.).

    The varsity four did not advance from their heat to a semifinal. Rowing for UConn was sophomore Liz Tomasco (Milford, Conn.), freshman AnnaMarie Sullivan (Hampton, N.H.), freshman Emily Powers (Lyme, Conn.), junior Kristen Harrington (Milford, Conn.) and sophomore Christine Latona (Granby, Conn.).

    The second varsity four B did not advance from their heat to a semifinal. Rowing for UConn were freshman Alexandra Coults (Beverly, Mass.), sophomore Jessica Berner (East Hartford, Conn.), senior EJ Joseph (Bridgeport, Conn.), senior Tess Cournoyer (Warwick, R.I.) and sophomore Grace Cournoyer (Warwick, R.I.).

    UConn returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to UMass for 9:00 a.m. races.
