Rowing Takes On Holy Cross And Boston College

WORCESTER, Mass. - The University of Connecticut rowing team competed against Boston College and Holy Cross on Sunday.

Holy Cross won the Varsity Eight race in 6:55 while Boston College was second in 6:59.5 and UConn was third in 7:03.5. The UConn boat was made up of freshman Charlotte Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.), junior Diana Filipek (Sewell, N.J.), junior Amanda Sibley (Old Lyme, Conn.), sophomore Hillary Wiles-Lafayette (Litchfield, Conn.), senior Kim Weber (Ridgefield, Conn.), senior Gretchen Stern (Rexford, N.Y.), junior Kaitlyn Clarke (Tolland, Conn.), junior Andriel Doolittle (Clinton, Conn.) and junior Brittany DePoi (Brookfield, Conn.).

UConn won the Second Varsity Eight in 7:03.8 while Holy Cross was second in 7:08.2 and BC was in 7:27. That boat was was junior Brittanie Reinold (Sulton, Mass), freshman Natalie Carlone (Fort Washington, Pa.), sophomore Adrienne Barrett (West Granby, Conn.), freshman Madelyn Walters (Orleans, Mass.), junior Mary Grace Haggett (Ledyard, Conn.), sophomore Melissa Soucie (Avon, Conn.), sophomore Deana Cabrey (Fort Sill, Okla.), freshman Beth Ryan (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) and freshman Erin Mounce (Baldwinsville, N.Y.).



In the Varsity Four face, BC won in 7:58.1, following by UConn "A" in 7:58.9 and UConn "B" in 8:26. The "A" boat for UConn was sophomore Liz Sarant (Massapequa, N.Y.), senior Audrey Squire (Kinnelon, N.J.), senior Morfia Efthimiou (Stonington, Conn.), junior Katie Visentin (Cheshire, Conn.) and senior Amanda Cote (Wakefield, R.I.). The "B" boat for UConn was sophomore Laura Poff (South Yarmouth, Mass.), junior Sara Trevisani (Duxbury, Mass.), sophomore Mara Gauger (Winsted, Conn.), junior Ashley Kalinauskas (Vernon, Conn.) and sophomore Jessica Motta (Norwood, Mass.).

In the Novice Eight, Holy Cross won in 7:24, followed by the Boston College Third Varsity in 7:29, the BC Novice in 7:30.7 and UConn in 7:38. That boat for UConn was made up of freshman Victoria Dreuhl (Stamford, Conn.), freshman Ashley West (Dudley, Mass.), freshman Abigail Lowry (Groton, Conn.), freshman Danielle Donnelly (Lakeside, Conn.), freshman Chelsea Zabel (Guilford, Conn.), freshman Kelly Fuller (Sunnyvale, Calif.), freshman Avital Lassow (Mansfield Center, Conn.), sophomore Rachel Hipplewtiz (Gales Ferry, Conn.) and sophomore Danielle Donahue (Gales Ferry, Conn.).

The Huskies return to action on Sunday, May 1 at the BIG EAST Championship at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
