    WORCESTER, Mass. - The University of Connecticut rowing team competed against Boston College and Holy Cross on Sunday.

    Holy Cross won the varsity eight race in a time of 6:38.17 followed by Boston College and the Huskies. The UConn boat was junior Charlotte Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.), junior Natalie Carlone (Fort Washington, Pa.), senior Hillary Wiles-Lafayette (Litchfield, Conn.), sophomore Kathryn Hughes (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), senior Caitlin Swallow (South Glastonbury, Conn.), junior Julia Roth (Weston, Conn.), junior Kendra Kohanski (East Lyme, Conn.), senior Brittany DePoi (Brookfield, Conn.) and senior Adrienne Barrett (West Granby, Conn.).

    The Eagles won the second varsity eight in a time of 6:56.7 while UConn was second in 7:03.85 followed by Holy Cross. That UConn boat was sophomore Elise McCormick (Glastonbury, Conn.), senior Melissa Soucie (Avon, Conn.), junior Erin Mounce (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), junior Ashley West (Dudley, Mass.), freshman Audrey Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.), sophomore Abbie Viner (Stratford, Conn.), sophomore Laura Webster (Seymour, Conn.), sophomore Amanda Litty (Bethesda, Md.) and junior Chelsea Zabel (Guilford, Conn.).


     

     

    Boston College B won the third varsity eight in 7:08.2 while Boston College A was second followed by Holy Cross and UConn Novice A and UConn Novice B. The A boat for UConn was freshman Marissa Minor (Lisbon, Conn.), freshman AnnaMarie Sullivan (Hampton, N.H.), freshman Emily Powers (Lyme, Conn.), junior Kristen Harrington (Milford, Conn.), sophomore Christine Latona (Granby, Conn.), freshman Megan Duva (Glastonbury, Conn.), freshman Alyssa Hopson (Windsor, Conn.), freshman Brittany Shakley (Litchfield, Conn.) and sophomore Stephanie Varanelli (Bethlehem, Conn),

    The second UConn boat in that race was freshman Alexandra Coults (Beverly, Mass)., freshman Peri Stevens (Suffield, Conn.), freshman Meghan Pirsig (Glastonbury, Conn.), freshman Emily Wilson (Putney, Vt.), freshman Mikayla Hudson (Windsor, Conn.), freshman Katelynn Person (North Windham, Conn.), freshman Taylor Hammeke (Tolland, Conn.), freshman Kimberly Gillen (Mahwah, N.J.) and freshman Meghan Lally (Jefferson, Mass.).

    In the first varsity four, Boston College won in 7:45.1 while UConn (7:59.04) was second and Holy Cross was third. The UConn boat was Liz Tomasco (Milford, Conn.), sophomore Doe Bajguz (Naugatuck, Conn.), sophomore Teresa Starzecki (Shelton, Conn.), senior Amber Crispino (Marion, Conn.) and junior Abigail Lowry (Groton, Conn.).

    In the second varsity four, Boston College A won in a time of 7:52.2 while Boston College B was second and UConn was third. Rowing for UConn were junior Emi Nishino (Holden, Mass.), sophomore Jessica Berner (East Hartford, Conn.), senior EJ Joseph (Bridgeport, Conn.), senior Tess Cournoyer (Warwick, R.I.) and sophomore Grace Cournoyer (Warwick, R.I.).

    The Huskies return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bucknell and also face West Virginia and Delaware there.
