Women's Rowing Takes On Delaware, Bucknell

UConn posted wins vs. Delaware in the varsity eight and second varsity eight.

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The University of Connecticut women's rowing team posted wins against Delaware in the varsity eight and second varsity eight as the Huskies took on the Blue Hens and Bucknell in a double-duel format on Sunday. The races were held at Bucknell's home course along the Susquehanna River.

UConn won the varsity eight race in a time of 7:07.9 while Delaware was second in 7:19.6. Bucknell defeated UConn as the Bison were 7:00.1 and UConn was 7:14.6.

The UConn varsity eight boat was Charlotte Kelley (cox), Natalie Carlone (stroke), Audrey Kelley (seven), Heather Norris (six), Julia Calise (five), Julia Roth (four), Abbie Viner (three), Erin Mounce (two) and Haley Ullinger (bow).

In the second varsity eight, UConn topped Delaware 7:47.2 compared to 7:51.6 while the Huskies B lost to Bucknell by a 8:12.8-8:39.6 margin.

The UConn second varsity eight was Elise McCormick (cox), Christine Latona (stroke), Diana Gryszkiewicz (seven), Teresa Starzecki (six), Mikayla Hudson (five), Sarah Mosure (four), Arielle Sherman (three), Chelsea Zabel (two) and Dani Wrubel (bow).



In the varsity four, Delaware raced in a time of 8:19.5 to top UConn A, which came in just half a second behind at 8:20.0. The Bucknell lightweight four were third at 8:44.6.

In a second race, the UConn B varsity four won in a time of 8:59.2 while Bucknell was 9:03.9 and UConn A was 9:19.7.

The UConn varsity four A was Abi Lowry (cox), Meg Duva (stroke), Amanda Litty (three), Brenna Conrad (two) and Oliva Durham (bow). The UConn varsity four B was Alex Coults (cox), Ashley West (stroke), Emily Powers (three), Claire Kenison (two) and Hannah Soucie (bow).

Delaware A won the novice eight race in 7:54.3 while the Blue Hen third varsity eight was second in 8:11.3 and UConn was third in 8:32.0. Bucknell also defeated UConn in another race 7:27.2-8:04.0.

The Huskies return to action on May 9-10 for the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.
