Rowing Finishes Fifth At BIG EAST Championship

WEST WINDSOR, N.J.- The University of Connecticut women’s rowing team concluded its 2012 spring season on Sunday with a fifth place finish at the BIG EAST Championship at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. Notre Dame won the championship followed by Syracuse, Louisville and Georgetown while the Huskies finished ahead of Rutgers, West Virginia and Villanova.

UConn senior Mary Grace Haggett (Ledyard, Conn.) was named First Team All-Conference while senior Andriel Doolittle (Clinton, Conn.) was honored as Second Team.

The UConn varsity eight was third in the petite final in a time of 7:01.037 while Rutgers was first, West Virginia second and Villanova fourth.

The Husky varsity four won the petite final in a time of 7:55.396 as it topped West Virginia, Rutgers and Villanova.

The UConn third varsity eight earned a spot in the grand final and finished third in a time of 7:22.009 while Notre Dame was first, Syracuse second and Louisville fourth. The Husky second varsity eight was also in the grand final and was fourth in a time of 6:58.075.
