PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Connecticut women’s rowing team competed at the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday and Saturday on the Schuylkill River.
The UConn varsity eight advanced to the semifinal round with a third place finish in its heat race and won its rep race on Friday. In the heat race, UConn was third in a time of 7:04.291 and finished behind Duke and Temple but ahead of La Salle and Lawrence. In the rep race, UConn topped Middlebury, Villanova, George Mason and Marist in a time of 7:01.286.
On Sunday, UConn was fifth in its semifinal race in a time of 7:00.693 and did not advance to the finals.
The Husky novice eight was second in its heat race with a time of 7:12.752 and topped Middlebury, George Mason, American and Penn State as the race was won by Duke. On Sunday, UConn was fourth in its semifinal race in a time of 7:09.963.
The UConn varsity four boat was third in its heat race in a time of 7:57.765 while the second varsity eight was also third in its heat in a time of 7:08.185. The novice four was fourth in their heat in a time of 8:13.188 – just two second from advancing to the next round.
