Rowing Finishes Sixth At BIG EAST Championship

UConn was sixth at Sunday's BIG EAST Championship.

PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J. - The University of Connecticut rowing team completed its 2013 season with a sixth place finish at the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, which was held at Mercer County Park. Notre Dame won the team title followed by Louisville, Syracuse, Rutgers and Georgetown. The Huskies finished ahead of Villanova.

UConn junior Julia Roth (Weston, Conn.) was named First Team All-BIG EAST Conference while junior Kendra Kohanski (East Lyme, Conn.) was named second team.

The UConn varsity eight won the petite final over Villanova in a time of 7:22.325. The Husky second varsity eight also defeated Villanova in the petite final with a time of 7:42.365. The UConn third varsity eight was fourth in a time of 7:43.078 in a race won by the Irish.

UConn's varsity four was fourth in a time of 8:25.169 as Notre Dame won that race. The Huskies' second varsity four boat was fourth in a time of 9:12.710 in a race won by Louisville.
