SHELTON, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's varsity eight finished in sixth place as the Husky rowing team competed at the Head of the Housatonic Regatta on Saturday.
The varsity eight completed the 2.7 mile course in 17:14, 1:44 behind the first place Yale crew. The UConn's "B" Eight finished 11th in 18:41 and UConn's "C" Eight placed 13th in 19:09.
UConn's varsity eight included senior Mikey Sevick (Simsbury, Conn.), senior Katie Rauscher (Manchester, Conn.), senior Sarah Willhoft (Manchester, Conn.), junior Audrey Squire (Kinnelon, N.J.), senior Lizzie Littlewood (Mystic, Conn.), senior Jenny Reynolds (South Hero, Vt.), junior Morfia Efthimiou (Stonington, Conn.), junior Gretchen Stern (Rexford, N.Y.) and junior Kim Weber (Ridgefield, Conn.).
UConn "B" was comprised of senior Leah Masopust (Morris, Conn.), senior Becca Likar (East Lyme, Conn.), senior Kristen Beasley (Centerville, Mass.), sophomore Jessica Chames (Hookset, N.H.), junior Amanda Cote' (Wakefield, R.I.), junior Liz Harsley (Riverdale, N.J.), sophomore Amanda Sibley (Old Lyme, Conn.), sophomore Diana Filipek (Sewell, N.J.) and sophomore Dana Haddad (Storrs, Conn.).
UConn "C" included sophomore Brittanie Reinold (Sutton, Mass.), sophomore Andriel Doolittle (Clinton, Conn.), senior Sylvia Czupi (Woodbridge, Conn.), junior Taylor Hoige (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), sophomore Mary Grace Haggett (Ledyard, Conn.), sophomore Sara Trevisani (Duxbury, Mass.), sophomore Kylie Angell (Trumbull, Conn.), sophomore Ashley Kalinauskas (Vernon, Conn.) and junior Hailey Rosa (Mansfield, Conn.).
UConn's varsity four finished fourteenth in 22:51. The UConn four included sophomore Lindsay Sutherland (Willington, Conn.), freshman Melissa Soucie (Avon, Conn.), freshman Bethany Stokes (Rockville, Md.), freshman Rosie Steffen (Guilford, Conn.) and sophomore Meghan McCarthy (Fairfield, Conn.).
The Huskies return to action next Saturday at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, where they will race two crews in the Club Eight event.
