Novice Eight Named BIG EAST Boat Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Connecticut earned BIG EAST Boat of the Week honors after the Huskies' novice eight defeated Boston College and Holy Cross on Lake Quinsigamond, the venue for this season's BIG EAST Championship, this past weekend. The Husky boat finished 15.9 seconds ahead of second-place Holy Cross.

The crew of freshman coxswain Liz Sarant (Massapequa, N.Y.), freshman stroke Melissa Soucie (Avon, Conn.), sophomore Kaitlyn Clarke (Tolland, Conn.), freshman DeeDee Cabrey (Fort Sill, Okla.), freshman Adrienne Barrett (West Granby, Conn.), sophomore Katie Visentin (Cheshire, Conn.), freshman Hillary Wiles-Lafayette (Litchfield, Conn.), sophomore Carolyn Judge (Weston, Conn.) and sophomore Brittany DePoi (Brookfield, Conn.) crossed the finish line with a time of 7:23.5 The Crusaders came in second at 7:39.4 while the Eagles finished in third at 8:08.4.

UConn returns to action this Sunday at the BIG EAST Championship in Worcester, Mass.
