STORRS, Conn. –
The UConn rowing program will compete in the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday in Sarasota, Fla., looking to wrap-up the spring season with a strong effort.

Coverage of the competition will be available on the American Digital Network, with Drew Vincent leading the production of the championship. Results and team information are available on the American’s Rowing Championship Central page.

The Huskies prepare to race their six conference opponents – SMU, Temple, Tulsa, Sacramento State, San Diego State and reigning champion UCF – at Nathan Benderson Park beginning at 11:00 a.m. (ET).

The Third Varsity 4+ will begin the day’s events, while the Varsity 8+ will be the last race of the championship at approximately 11:50 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow the completion of all races at 12:45 p.m.

Coming off a sixth-place finish in 2016, UConn looks to improve its mark this season. Under 20-year head coach Jennifer Wendry, the Varsity 4+ took the bronze medal in Sacramento, Calif. last year.

In 2014, the Huskies placed third in the AAC Championship – their best finish since joining the conference that same season.

The American Athletic Conference will be providing coverage from all social media accounts throughout Saturday. Use the hashtag #AmericanRowing to stay updated on everything happening in Sarasota.
