The UConn women’s rowing team started its fall season on Sunday at the Mystic Coast Weeks Regatta in Mystic, CT.

UConn entered two fours in the women’s four event and finished a strong second and third behind the Coast Guard Academy.  UConn’s second place crew consisting of Shannon O’Rourke (Woodbury, CT), Briana Blood (Pepperell, MA), Caroline Baker (Columbia, MD), Jodi Hope (Marlborough, CT) and Tracy Mulligan (Easton, CT) came in a close six-seconds behind the winning Coast Guard Crew.  The third place boat was raced by Liz Glomb (Arlington, VA), Erin Bartie (Westport, CT), Steph Chivers (Dalton, MA), Christina Cotter (West Seneca, NY) and Kristy Dahlstrom (Killingworth, CT).

Head Coach Jen Sanford-Wendry said, "I’m very pleased with today’s results.  We have had five practices on the water leading up to this race, so to be that close to Coast Guard who has been on the water much longer shows that we have the potential for some fast racing this fall.  We wanted to have a strong start to the season so that we could gain some confidence and set the tone for the rest of the year, and I believe these two crews accomplished that today."

UConn races again on Sunday October 5, in Hartford at the Riverfront Recapture Head race.
