STORRS, Conn. –
The UConn rowing program, which became a varsity sport in 1997, has rescheduled its 20th Anniversary Tailgate celebration to take place prior to UConn football’s home game against USF on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Conn.

Originally scheduled for Sept. 9, UConn football’s scheduled game was cancelled against USF due to the impending Hurricane Irma – resulting in the postponement of the rowing tailgate.

Head coach Jennifer Wendry, now in her 21st season, will be present to welcome back all rowing alums for a pregame commemoration of the program. Following the event, all in attendance will head into the stadium to watch UConn take on USF.

Kickoff time has not been announced, but the tailgate will begin two hours prior. Each rowing alum will receive two complimentary tickets for the game, with additional tickets available at a discounted rate.

Directions to the stadium and nearby hotels can be found HERE. Those interested in attending are asked to register by Friday, Oct. 27 to allow time for event preparation.

Please contact assistant coach Kathy Les ( with questions, comments or concerns.

Since the program began, the Huskies have had success on the water – most notably earning a third-place finish at the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championships at Mercer County Park.

In 2005, the team finished fourth at the Big East Championship – its highest finish as a member of the conference – and won the points trophy at the Dad Vail Championship.

The Huskies return to action this weekend at the 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass. UConn will have a pair of boats race on both Saturday and Sunday, as the fall season continues for Wendry’s team.
