CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The University of Connecticut women's soccer team won its second and final exhibition game of the 2011 season on Sunday afternoon (August 14) when they defeated Boston College, 2-1, at Newton Soccer Complex.
Redshirt junior forward Danielle Schulmann (Sadle River, N.J.) continued her dominance on the offensive side of the ball for the Huskies as she scored her third goal in two exhibition games. Schulmann gave UConn a 1-0 advantage on a pass from freshman midfielder Riley Houle (Columbia, Conn.).
Sophomore midfielder Devin Prendergast (Babylon, N.Y.) drilled the ball from 30 yards out and it would rattle off the crossbar before midfielder Karen Gurnon (Tolland, Conn.) rebounded it and sent it into the back of the net to increase the Huskies lead to 2-0.
The Eagles would add a goal with 25 minutes left in regulation but would eventually fall 2-1 to the Huskies.
The Huskies kick off regular season competition on Friday (August 19) at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at 7 p.m. against Northeastern.
