ORLANDO, Fla. – Against the top team in The American, the Huskies battled No. 7 UCF on Thursday night but were defeated 2-0. The loss snaps a two-game win streak for the Huskies (6-7-3, 4-3-0).
Courtney Hofer (Farmington, Conn.) had a solid night in net recording a career-high six saves for UConn. The offense was unable to break through seven shots and a pair of corner kicks on the night.
In the fifth minute the Huskies earned a corner kick that led to a an opportunity for freshman Yamilee Eveillard (Valley Stream, N.Y.) Eveillard knocked a header attempt wide on a Vivien Beil service into the box.
UCF took an initial lead in the 17th minute off a strike from Morgan Ferrarra, her 12th goal of the season.
The Knight grabbed an insurance goal in the 69th minute to snag a 2-0 advantage. UCF finished the night with 17 shots and improved their record to 11-1-1.
