CHICAGO, Ill. – UConn forward Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.) continues her quest to cement her spot on the U.S. Under-20 National Team roster when she joins 26 other players at May training camp in Chula Vista, Calif. Hill represents one of eighteen returners from the USA’s April camp held in the same location under the direction of head coach Michelle French.

The camp, which will take place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center from May 11-18, serves as one of the last few domestic events in the process of finalizing the American roster. Hill, who plays as a forward with Connecticut but operates as a midfielder for the U-20 club, will look to earn a roster spot for the upcoming U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup hosted by Canada in August.

“Without a doubt, there is a definite sense of urgency for the players coming in to our May camp,” said head coach Michelle French.  “Having only three events left prior to the World Cup, the identifying players who are best able to successfully implement the ideas of our system and style of play will be crucial to the naming of our final roster.”

No stranger to USA soccer, Hill played under French as a key contributor when the Americans dominated at the 2014 CONCACAF Championship in the Cayman Islands earlier this year. USA handily captured the tournament in January without allowing a single goal against en route to qualifying for the World Cup. The New Hampshire native recorded her first international points at the event, seeing significant minutes in all five games and picking up a goal and five assists along the way.

A stellar freshman campaign at UConn landed Hill on the national radar back in November. After leading UConn in goals (13), assists (5) and points (31), she and fellow Husky Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) were invited to the U.S. Under-20 National Team training camp over Thanksgiving break in Carson, California. From there, Hill was welcomed back for the December training camp, after which it was announced that she was one of 20 players who would represent USA at the U-20 CONCACAF Championship in January.
