STORRS, Conn. – UConn women’s soccer rising senior Emily Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) was named to TopDrawSoccer.com’s top-10 list of Division I women’s soccer goalkeepers as announced by the organization at the end of last month.
The 2015 American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and all-conference First Team selection, Armstrong started in 22 matches for the Huskies and recorded 77 saves for a .794 save percentage and a 0.94 goals against average.
Having only allowed 20 goals in 2015, Armstrong recorded a total of ten shutouts last season and helped the team to an undefeated 10-0 season at home. In strictly regular season conference play, she only allowed four goals to earn a league best 0.50 goals against average versus American opponents.
The Pennsylvania native only allowed two goals at Morrone Stadium all season. She posted a career-high eight saves last season in the 1-0 shutout against Syracuse on September 3, 2015. Two of her 10 shutouts came in the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament.
In just under 2000 minutes of play, Armstrong tallied a career-best 18 wins last season, boasting an 18-4 overall record in 2015 and an 8-1 record in the AAC. During the 2015 regular season, Armstrong did not allow a goal in over 365 minutes after posting three shutouts and contributing to another.
