STORRS, Conn. - It was announced by the NCAA that the UConn women's soccer team achieved a perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the 2009-10 academic year. The Huskies have received perfect 1000 scores in back-to-back years.

The Huskies have consistently performed in the classroom as well as on the field over the course of Head Coach Len Tsantiris' 30-year career. In 2009-10, UConn had 19 players earn BIG EAST All-Academic honors. The 2010-11 selections will be announced later this summer by the BIG EAST Conference.

In 2010, UConn graduate student Annie Yi (Indianapolis, Ind.) was honored with the prestigious BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to a male and female student-athlete from each of the BIG EAST's 16-member schools. Yi was granted a $2,000 scholarship on behalf of the BIG EAST Conference and American Eagle Outfitters.

Also earning academic awards in 2010 were junior Jessica Shufelt (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Danielle Dakin (Wilbraham, Mass.). Shufelt was named to the ESPN Academic All-District First Team while Dakin was a member of the ESPN Academic All-District Second Team.
