Two Huskies Selected to USA U-23 Women's National Team

CHICAGO – Two members of the University of Connecticut women’s soccer team were selected to compete with the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team in this year’s Nordic Tournament in England, beginning Thursday, June 2.

Rising seniors Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.) and Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) will travel to England this Saturday as part of the 20-person USA roster competing in the tournament. Hill is one of four forwards on the roster and Ribeiro claimed one of nine midfield spots.

The tournament, which features four countries, will be held at St. Georges Park, the sprawling official training center for the England Football Association located about 130 miles north of London.

The USA will square off against the U-23 Women’s National Teams of Sweden (June 2), Norway (June 4) and England (June 7) in what will be the main competition of this summer for this age group.

The senior duo led the Huskies on offense in 2015, which helped guide the team to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2007. The American Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Hill, and Midfielder of the Year, Ribeiro, both earned NSCAA All-American honors for their performances in the 2015 season.
