U.S. Soccer Release

SEATTLE, Wash. -- UConn women's soccer sophomore Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.) is among 27 prospective members of the U-20 United States Women's National Team called to the final preparation camp before the 2014 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The camp began on July 9 and will run until July 23, when head coach Michelle French will name her 21-player squad for the U-20 World Cup in Canada.

Hill is one of 17 players in the camp who was a member of the U-20 team that won the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship last January in the Cayman Islands. Hill appeared in all five contests at the tournament for the Stars and Stripes, potting a goal and dishing out five assists.

During her freshman campaign in Storrs in 2013, Hill burst onto the national scene with 13 goals and five assists. For her efforts, she was named First Team All-American Athletic Conference, earned a spot on the league's All-Rookie squad and was a NEWISA First Team All-New England selection.

If Hill earns a roster spot for the Yanks, the U-20 World Cup runs from Aug. 5 to Aug. 23. The United States begins pool play against Germany on Aug. 5 in Edmonton.

UConn begins its 2014 schedule with an exhibition contest against Northeastern on Aug. 16, before hosting Hofstra to open the regular season on Aug. 22 at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
