KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UConn women’s soccer seniors, Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.) and Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) were named to the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy watch list as announced by the organization Wednesday.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer presented annually to one male and female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, during the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
The senior duo, both 2015 NSCAA All-Americans, claimed two of 36 spots on the female athlete watch list.
Hill led the Huskies last season with 36 points (16g, 4a), which earned her the title of American Athletic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She was also a semifinalist for the 2015 Mac Hermann Trophy.
The Rollinsford, N.H. native climbed her way into the UConn record book in 2015 after joining the program’s “100 Point Club” with a career total of 102 points at the conclusion of her junior season.
Ribeiro took home American Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year honors after putting up 22 points (7g, 8a) in 2015, which left her second on the team behind Hill. She racked up a season high five points (2g, 1a) in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
The Patucket, R.I. native enters her fifth year as a Husky after she redshirted in 2014 due to injury.
Hill, Ribeiro and the rest of the Husky squad are set to kick off their 2016 campaign on Friday, Aug. 19 when they host Northeastern at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
