Huskies Set for First Exhibition Match

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women’s soccer team plays will take on the Boston College Eagles in its first of two exhibition matches Monday Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.

The Huskies finished 14-5-5 last season with a conference record of 4-2-3, which left them fourth in the AAC. After upsetting top seed UCF in the American Conference semifinals, UConn earned the American Athletic Conference Championship title after defeating USF in penalty kicks. The team made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament, which marked its 29th NCAA tournament appearance. The Huskies return three of their four leaders including Rachel Hill (16g, 3a), Danielle Gottwik (6g, 4a), and Samantha McGuire (6g, 3a).

Boston College finished 10-8-1 last season, going 3-6-1 in the ACC. That record left them tenth in the conference, behind Syracuse, Miami, Pittsburgh and NC State. The Eagles welcome nine newcomers this season, and return 16 veterans.   

The Huskies will play their second pre-season game Friday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. against the University of Montreal.
