STORRS, Conn. – Coming off a shutout victory to start the season, the UConn women’s soccer team (1-0) will host Boston University (0-1) Sunday at 1 p.m. in its second game of the home stand at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.

The No. 15 Huskies started off the 2016 season with a 1-0 win over Northeastern Friday. Redshirt-senior Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) scored the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute. UConn outshot Northeastern 23-10 overall and senior goalkeeper Emily Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) saw all 90 minutes in net, recording four saves for her first shutout of the season.

Boston University opened its 2016 season with a 2-1 loss to Arizona State Friday. ASU got off to a 2-0 lead after the first half and, despite an early second-half goal from McKenna Doyle, BU could not tie things up.

The 2015 Patriot League Tournament Champions finished last season with a 13-6-3 overall record and an 8-0-1 showing in league games. The Terriers concluded their season in the second round of the NCAA tournament where they fell to Penn State, who went on to become the 2015 National Champions.

UConn leads the all-time series against Boston University 5-4. The Huskies and the Terriers last met in 2013, when UConn fell short of BU 1-0 on the Terriers’ home turf in Boston.

The Huskies will hit the road for their first away match of the season when they take on Harvard Friday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Rutgers on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at Morrone Stadium.
