KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team jumped to No. 10 in the NSCAA national rankings for the week of Aug. 23 as announced by the organization Tuesday.
The Huskies, who were previously ranked No. 15 in the preseason poll, climbed five spots after starting off the season 2-0 against Boston opponents, BU and Northeastern.
UConn opened its regular season with a 1-0 win over Northeastern Friday and followed it up with another 1-0 victory against BU. Redshirt senior Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) netted both game-winning goals for the Huskies and senior goalkeeper Emily Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) took credit for both shutouts.
The Huskies travel to Boston Friday, Aug. 26 to take on Harvard at 7 p.m. before returning home to Morrone Stadium to host No. 22 Rutgers on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m.
