Women's Soccer Faces Arkansas, Fordham

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women’s soccer team is fresh off its first victory of the season on Sunday vs. Central Connecticut and faces challenging weekend coming up.

The Huskies play host to Arkansas on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium and then travel to the Bronx to take on Fordham on Sunday at 1 p.m. Fans should note that the Arkansas game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was recently changed.

UConn has a 1-3-1 record as the CCSU win broke a three-game losing streak for the Huskies. Freshman Kess Elmore (Liverpool, England) is now the leading scorer for the Huskies with two goals for four points while Zoe Steck has one goal.

Despite the record, UConn has actually outshot its opponents 56-52 and has had 22 corner kicks compared to 18 for the opponents.

Arkansas has a 4-2 record on the season and has won its past three-straight games over Abilene Christian, James Madison and Mississippi Valley State. Arkansas has lost to SMU of the American Athletic Conference (1-0 on August 18 in OT) and 4-2 to Penn State on August 25, when it was ranked No 1 in the country.

Freshman forward Parker Goines is the leading scorer for the Razorbacks with four goals and four assists for 12 points while freshman midfielder Taylor Malham has four goals as well.

Fordham is 2-1-2 on the season and plays at Hofstra on Friday before it takes on the Huskies. The Rams have win over Nevada and Manhattan and have tied two-straight games for Seton Hall and Holy Cross.

Freshman Crea Baker-Durante leads Fordham with two goals and an assist for five points while sophomore forward Amanda Miller has two goals.
