UConn Hits the Road for Rutgers

STORRS, Conn. -- The No. 20, undefeated UConn women's soccer team (6-0) will take on No. 19, undefeated Rutgers (6-0) on the road on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. in Piscataway N.J. at Yurcak Field.

The Huskies are currently 6-0 in their 2015 schedule after a 3-0 win against Army on Friday. Junior Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.) scored her sixth goal of the season against the Black Knights, giving UConn a 1-0 going into the half. Senior Liana Hinds (Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore Tanya Altrui (Branford, Conn.) scored their first goals of the season in the second half, bringing the final scocre to a 3-0 shutout for the Huskies.

Hill currently leads the team with 14 points (6g, 2a) followed by junior Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) with seven points (3g, 1a) and senior Samantha McGuire (Fishkill, N.Y.) with four points (1g, 2a).Seven different Huskies have tallied one goal for UConn this season. Junior goalkeeper Emily Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) has recorded 25 saves this season and three shutouts for a 0.83 goals against average.

Rutgers is also undefeated in 2015, registering six wins and not allowing one goal all season.The team's last win came against Drexel, where the Scarlet Knights put up three goals for a 3-0 win against the Dragons.

Graduate student Cassie Inacio currently leads the team with five points (2g, 1a) followed by senior Rachel Cole (2g) and sophomore Colby Ciarrocca (1g,2a) both with four points. Rutgers goalkeeper Casey Murphy has yet to allow a goal this season for six straight shutouts. She has recorded 16 saves for a 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage.

After Rutgers, UConn continues its road stretch with Central Connecticut on Friday, Sept. 18 at 7 New Britain, Conn. at CCSU Soccer Field.
