STORRS, CT (October 6) – Salla Ranta (Helsinki, Finland) scored the game-winner in the 16th minute of play to extend UConn's win streak to seven.  The Huskies edged out Yale, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Morrone Stadium to improve to 10-1-1, 4-0-0 BIG EAST, as Yale fell to 6-2-1 overall.

The first half of play was fairly even, with UConn producing two scoring chances to Yale’s one.  Ranta scored the solo tally of the half on a direct kick that curved to the inside and sailed over the head of an unexpecting Lindsay Sabel.

Both teams pressured more in the second half, with shots tallying six to one in UConn's favor.  However, both teams came up short of a score.

UConn goes on the road for two games next weekend, stopping at Rutgers on Friday, October 11 at 7 p.m. and meeting Notre Dame on Sunday, October 13 at 1 p.m.  The Huskies return home on Sunday, October 20 to play host to Seton Hall.  Game time is 1 p.m.
