PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Redshirt senior Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) was deemed the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season as announced by the league Monday.
Ribeiro put up a nine-point (3g, 3a) performance this past weekend, playing a role in all six UConn goals as the Huskies defeated UCF 3-0 Thursday and USF 3-1 Sunday. UConn is now in first place in the conference standings after SMU recorded its first conference loss to Cincinnati to break the tie for first.
A 2015 All-America Third Team honoree, Ribeiro started off the weekend with a goal and two assists against the Knights Thursday and followed it up with two goals, including the game-winner, and another assist against the Bulls.
She now currently leads the nation in total points (41) and game-winning goals (8), is second in assists (11) and is also tied for first in total goals (15).
Hill brought home five points last weekend, tallying a goal against UCF Thursday and a goal and an assist Sunday against USF. She is now tied for second in the UConn record book for all-time career goals with 52 and is also solely fourth for all-time career points with 131.
Armstrong added two more wins, including a shutout, to her running tally this season. She earned her third consecutive and seventh overall shutout of the season against UCF Thursday, where she boasted nine saves against the Knights. She also added four saves Sunday against USF to earn her 13th win of the year.
As the No. 21 UConn women’s soccer team is on the road for the remainder of the 2016-17 regular season, the Huskies prepare for a single match-up at Temple Saturday, Oct. 22.
