KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UConn women’s soccer team climbed to the No. 11 spot in the NSCAA weekly rankings for the week of October 20, 2015. This is the highest the Huskies have been in the polls this season, after starting the season off at No. 25.
UConn landed the No. 11 ranking with a 14-2 overall record and a 6-1 conference record after going 2-0 on the road last weekend. The Huskies shutout Memphis 1-0 on Thursday, Oct. 15 and defeated Tulsa 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday, Oct. 18. This was the first time all season the Huskies had gone into extra minutes.
The Huskies started off at No. 25 going into the regular season, but quickly climbed to No. 20. Their ranking dropped after the team’s first loss to, at that time No. 19, Rutgers but the team quickly regained the 20th spot.
Last week, UConn reached an all new high at No. 15 after pulling out two shutout victories the weekend prior against East Carolina and Cincinnati, bringing their overall record to 12-2.
UConn will look to break into the top ten after they take on Houston Thursday, Oct. 22 and SMU on Sunday, Oct. 25 in its last two matches of the regular season calendar.
