Oct. 25, 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team jumped two spots to No. 19 in NSCAA weekly national poll as announced by the organization Tuesday.

The Huskies have spent the last four weeks stagnant at the No. 21 spot, despite having gone six weeks without recording a loss. Their last loss came against, at the time No. 1, Florida State on Sept. 8, 2016.

Currently 14-2-1 overall, UConn climbed two spots after defeating Temple 1-0 on the road Saturday, putting them at the top of the American Athletic Conference standings with a 6-0-1 league slate.

Redshirt senior Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) scored her ninth game-winning goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 75th minute against the Owls. She currently leads the nation in total points (43), total goals (16) and game-winning goals (9).

The Huskies close out their 2016 regulars season with two away match-ups with Cincinnati on Thursday, Oct. 27 and East Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 30.
