STORRS, CT (October 27) -- Preseason All-BIG EAST honoree Kristen Graczyk (Albuquerque, NM) has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the University of Connecticut womens soccer team to victories over league foes, St. Johns and Syracuse. Graczyk earns the accolade for the second time in 2003.
Graczyk notched five goals and added two assists in UConns two games last week. The junior forward scored two goals just 2:40 apart, including the game-winner, in UConns 4-1 victory over St. Johns on Tuesday. Saturday, Graczyk netted three goals and assisted on two others for a remarkable eight point afternoon in UConns 6-0 rout of Syracuse. Graczyk has now scored 14 goals and dished out nine assists for 37 points. Her 37 points this season eclipses her previous career-high of 36 set last year. Graczyk is now alone in 10th place on both UConns all-time goals scored list (37) and all-time points list (97). If and when Graczyk reaches the 100 point mark, she will become the ninth player in UConn womens soccer history to do so.
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, October 29 to take on Harvard at 7:00 p.m. in Storrs.
