The Huskies nearly took an early lead in the eighth minute on a shot from "Rocky" McCarthy; the senior powered a chance from outside the box that ricocheted off the crossbar.
After a 0-0 first half, the Owls took the lead less than a minute into the second. Elana Falcone converted on a missed clearance by the Huskies to give Temple a 1-0 advantage.
UConn responded in the 56th minute on a dazzling goal from Vivien Beil. The junior rifled a shot into the upper right corner of the goal to even the score at one.
Beil helped the Huskies grab the lead in the 62nd minute by linking up with Sabrina Toole (Westport, Conn.) on a corner kick. Toole weaved her way to the near post and headed home a service from Beil. It was the fourth tally of the year for Toole and team-leading sixth assist for Beil.
After a Temple goal in the 70th minute and the clock winding down towards the end of regulation, Elena Santos (West Hartford, Conn.) found Beil in the 88th minute on a through ball inside the box. Beil got behind the defense and deposited her second goal of the night and fifth of the year into the back of the net to cap off the victory.
UConn (7-8-3, 5-4-0 American) now heads to Orlando for The American Athletic Conference Championship beginning on Wednesday, November 1.
