PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With the conclusion of the women’s soccer regular season, the American Athletic Conference announced its major awards and All-Conference teams on Tuesday. Three Huskies received recognition from the league’s coaches.
Junior Vivien Beil (Jena, Germany) and freshman Yamilee Eveillard (Valley Stream, N.Y.) landed on the All-Conference Second Team. Eveillard and freshman Kess Elmore (Liverpool, England) grabbed spots on the All-Rookie team.
Beil was honored on Monday by the conference as Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and picking up an assist in a 3-2 victory over Temple. In her first season at UConn, Beil leads the team in assists (6), points (16), shots (44) and is tied for the team-lead with five goals. She is one of three Huskies to start all 18 games this season (Liane Keegans, Heidi Druehl).
Eveillard has had a strong opening campaign for the Huskies, scoring four goals and chipping in an assist in 15 games. On Oct. 12 against SMU, the freshman recorded a two-goal performance that included the game-winner in the 88th minute. Her nine points ranks third best on the team.
Elmore earns All-Rookie status after tying for the team-lead with five goals scored. She burst onto the scene with a two-goal game at CCSU that led the Huskies to their first win of the season. Her signature moment came against Arkansas at Morrone Stadium with a game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Huskies, 2-1. Elmore’s two multi-goal performances were the most for a Husky this season.
The Huskies continue their season on Wednesday in The American Conference Championship against Memphis at 7 p.m. The game can be viewed on The American Digital Network.
