    STORRS, Conn.  – The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team had three Huskies recognized by the BIG EAST as announced by the league on Thursday evening. Senior forward Danielle Schulmann was tabbed to the All-BIG EAST First Team, while junior mid Jennifer Skogerboe and redshirt forward Andrea Plucenik were named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team. Plucenik was also selected to the All-BIG EAST Rookie Team.

    Schulmann, named to this year’s Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, leads the Huskies with 27 points on 10 goals and seven assists. The Saddle River, N.J. native is third in the conference in points (27), points per game (1.50) and goals (10). This is Schulmann’s second conference nod as she was selected to the 2011 All-BIG EAST Second Team. Schulmann, totaling 42 career points with 17 goals and eight assists, notched seven points on three goals and an assist in the Huskies win over CCSU which earned her BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, Soccer News Net National Player of the Week and ECAC Player of the Week.

    Plucenik posted a stellar freshman campaign as she was second on the team with 15 points. She scored five goals and dished out five assists, including back-to-back contests with two assists. The Brooklyn, Conn. native was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after tallying three goals in UConn’s 5-1 victory over St. John’s.

    Skogerboe was third on the team with 13 points playing a vital role in the middle for the Huskies. She notched one assist and six goals, including one game-winner.

    The 2012 BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship heads to Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn., this weekend for the semifinals and title game of the 10-team tournament. The field has been narrowed to four teams, Georgetown, Marquette, Notre Dame and USF. On Nov. 2, Notre Dame will face Marquette at Noon, while Georgetown squares off against USF at 2:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Nov. 4 for the league tournament title. All three games will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network and admission will be free.
