STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team (13-4-5) will host an NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship first round match against New Hampshire (8-8-4) on Saturday, Nov. 15. Kick-off from Joseph J. Morrone Stadium is set for 5 p.m.

The Huskies were slotted as one of 32 first-round hosts after winning the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday (Nov. 9), defeating South Florida in penalty kicks, 3-2, after a scoreless draw. The victory clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for UConn, marking the 29th tournament appearance in the 36-year history of the women’s soccer program. Each appearance has been during the 34-year reign of Head Coach Len Tsantiris, with the most recent trip in 2010.

New Hampshire earned a bid to the Women’s Soccer Championship after a run to the America East Tournament title, playing as the three-seed and advancing past Binghamton, UMBC and Hartford. UNH advanced through penalty kicks in the quarterfinals and semifinals, before a 2-1 win at Hartford in the championship game. The Wildcats, under first-year Head Coach Steve Welham, will be making their first NCAA Tournament appearance.

UConn and UNH have met 16 times in program history, with the first meeting coming in UConn’s inaugural season in 1979, but have not squared off since 1993. The Huskies are 15-1-0 overall against the Wildcats.
