STORRS, Conn. – The No. 13 UConn women’s soccer team will make its 31st NCAA appearance Saturday, Nov. 12 when it hosts Albany in the first round. Saturday marks the third consecutive trip to the big dance for the Huskies and the third straight year they have played host to a first round match.

Click here to purchase tickets for Saturday’s NCAA game. Groups of 10 or more will receive a special $2 ticket price. Student tickets are $5 each and must be purchased at the ticket office or at the game.

UConn punched an automatic ticket to this year’s NCAA tournament after claiming its second American Athletic Conference Championship in three seasons, defeating SMU 1-0 in the finals on Sunday.

Five Huskies were named to the All-Tournament team, including the Most Outstanding Offensive Player, Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.), and the Most Outstanding Defensive Player, Toriana Patterson (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), in addition to senior Emily Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.), senior Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) and junior Tanya Altrui (Branford, Conn.).

UConn is 18-2-1 overall entering Saturday’s contest. The Huskies are riding an eight-game win streak and a 14-game unbeaten streak. UConn has not lost since Sept. 8 when it fell 3-0 to the No. 1 team at the time, Florida State.

SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES

After capturing back-to-back America East Championships, UAlbany will make its second consecutive NCAA appearance Saturday against the Huskies. The Great Danes, who are 11-7-1 entering Saturday’s contest, brought home the 2016 American East Championship title with a 2-1 comeback victory over No. 2 seeded Hartford on Sunday.

UAlbany is on a six-game win streak and is unbeaten in its last nine matches. The Great Danes secured a share of the America East Regular Season title after finishing 6-1-1 in regular season conference play.

Saturday will mark the first meeting between the Huskies and the Great Danes. UAlbany has not faced an American Athletic Conference opponent since the league was created in 2013.
