STORRS, Conn. – UConn women’s soccer senior Emily Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team as announced by the organization Tuesday.
The senior goalkeeper was just one of four student-athletes on the Academic All-America First Team to boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. Of the 33 student-athletes that make up the first, second and third Academic All-America teams, 23 possess a 3.90 GPA or better.
The 2016 American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, Armstrong claimed Academic All-American First Team honors after earning a spot on the Academic All-District First Team for District 1 back in late October.
The Collegeville, Pa. native has made her mark both on and off the field, starting in all 23 matches for the Huskies this season and seeing 2,090 minutes in goal. Armstrong posted a career-high 11 shutouts in 2016 to finish her career with the second-most career shutouts in program history with 27.3.
