UConn Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

UConn achieved a 3.18 team gpa in the 2012-13 academic year earn the recognition.

STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team received Team Academic Award Honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for its success in the classroom. In the 2012-13 academic year, the team met the criteria of maintaining a minimum 3.0 team grade point average to earn the recognition. The Huskies surpassed the marker with a 3.18 team gpa.

UConn finished fourth in league play with an 11-9 record, bowing out to USF in the American Athletic Conference quarterfinal round. Four players received league honors for their efforts on the pitch this fall. Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.) and Stephanie Ribeiro (Pawtucket, R.I.) were selected as First Team All-Conference performers while senior Devin Prendergast (Babylon, N.Y.) netted Second Team All-Conference selection. Hill also joined redshirt freshman goalkeeper Emily Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) on the league’s  All-Rookie squad.

Connecticut joined eight other American teams in the scholastic achievement. The Huskies were in league with UCF, Louisville, Memphis, Rutgers, SMU, USF, and Temple as recipients.
