KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the list of semifinalists for the 2015 Mac Hermann award Tuesday. Junior Rachel Hill (Rollinsford, N.H.) is one of 15 female athletes up for the award.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual intercollegiate award administered by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and presented annually to one male and one female soccer athlete at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. This year’s trophy presentation and banquet will take place Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.
Hill is recognized for her offensive talents as she has led the Huskies in points all three seasons she has been at UConn. This year, Hill finished at the top of the team’s leader board scoring 16 goals and assisting on four others for a total 36 points, which earned the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Hill is the only female semifinalist an American Athletic Conference school. There are only two American Athletic Conference Athletes represented out of the 30 combined, male and female athletes.
NCAA Division I coaches who are current NSCAA College Services members may vote for their top choices Tuesday, Dec. 1 through Thursday, Dec. 10 within myNSCAA on NSCAA.com. Soccer fans can also let their collective voice be heard by voting for their favorite player on the MAC Hermann Trophy website, starting Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Six athletes (three men, three women) will be named finalists on Friday, Dec. 11 during the 2015 NCAA Men’s College Cup in Cary, N.C.
