    Storrs, Conn. - Vote For Elise Fugowski

    Senior midfielder Elise Fugowski (Stockholm, N.J.) has been nominated for the Soccer News Net National and Regional Player of the Year awards, as announced by Newenglandsoccernews.com. Fugowski was previously named to the All-BIG EAST First Team at the league's postseason banquet held in Piscataway, N.J. Fan voting counts for 40-percent of the voting for the selection of New England and National Player of the Year.

    Fugowski finished her four years at UConn with a career season. The attacking center midfielder recorded as many points in her final season as she did in her previous three years in Storrs combined. Fugowski finished her senior year with five goals and four assists for 14 points. UConn went 7-0 this season in games in which Fugowski figured in the scoring.

    Fugowski was responsible for both goals, including the game winner, in UConn's historic 2-0 victory over Notre Dame in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals. Led by Fugowski, the Huskies snapped Notre Dame's NCAA record 77-game unbeaten streak against conference opponents. UConn also became the first BIG EAST opponent to defeat the Irish in South Bend in 100 matches, dating back to the Huskies' 5-4 overtime win over Notre Dame on Oct. 6, 1995.

    The Huskies' season ended with a 1-0 defeat against Hofstra in the NCAA First Round on November 12.

    Fugowski finished her career with 10 goals, eight assists and 28 points.
