Storrs, Conn. - Former UConn women's soccer standouts Brittany Taylor (`09) and Meghan Schnur (`07) are two of 26 players that have been invited by U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Pia Sundhage to a six-day training camp at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from January 8-13. The players will be looking to earn a spot on the U.S. roster for the Four Nations Cup taking place in China from January 21-25.

The Four Nations Cup will be hosted in Chongqing, China where the USA will play matches against Sweden (Jan. 21), Canada (Jan. 23) and China (Jan. 25).

Both players attended the U.S. National Team Camp in October in preparation for the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament. Neither player saw action during the tournament. The U.S. finished third and earned a spot in the 2011 World Cup with a victory over Italy in a two-game playoff.

Taylor, a four-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection, competed with the Sky Blue FC of the Women's Professional Soccer League this past season. Taylor was a two-time All-American at UConn while being named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 and 2007.

"Taylor was an impact player for us attacking and at outside and center back. She made big strides developing into a player who can compete at the next level. She has tremendous athletic abilities and very good technical abilities," said UConn head coach Len Tsantiris.

Schnur was a 2007 All-American that ranks ninth all-time at UConn with 28 assists. She was the 2006 and 2007 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year. Schnur was also a four-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection. Schnur played alongside Talyor with the Sky Blue FC in the WPSL.

"Meghan Schnur made big strides as a player during her five years here at UConn. She reached the next level and is now competing with the national team. She plays 90 minutes for the Sky Blue FC and became a great outside defender going forward. She reads the game very well," added Tsantiris.
