Softball Alum Update: Julie Towers

2008 (Junior): Took part in 48 out of the 50 games on the season starting in every game that she played... finished the season with a .343 batting average and 48 hits... knocked in a team-leading 32 RBIs and scored another 23 runs for the team...ended the year with a team-high .614 slugging percentage... went 2-for-3 against Central Connecticut (4/3) scoring two runs and knocking in two RBIs in a 9-1 victory over the Blue Devils... hit a three-run home run against Syracuse (4/6) to tie the game up at three-all as the Huskies would go on to win 7-6... went 4-for-6 in the series against St. John's (4/12) recording three RBIs and scoring two runs including a game-tying run to help UConn to a 6-5 victory... received BIG EAST Honor Roll honors after going 10-for-23 with 5 RBIs and 5 runs during the week of 4/21... had the game-winning hit against Central Connecticut (4/22) as she went 3-for-4 with three RBIs...made the BIG EAST All-Tournament team after hitting .500 with 1 run and 4 RBIs including a three-run homerun, her second of the season.

2007 (Sophomore):
Appeared in 39 games with 36 starts...played 32 games at catcher and 5 games as the designated player...finished with a .255 batting average with 26 hits on 102 at-bats...collected 14 RBI on the season with four home runs...had two RBI in the win over No. 22 California (3/9)...collected three RBI including a home run against Pittsburgh (3/26)...went 3-for-3 against BIG EAST opponents Syracuse (3/25) and Villanova (4/21).

2006 (Freshman): Played in all 48 games as a freshman with 45 starts...led the team in RBI's with 31...fourth on the team in hits with 38...fifth on the team in batting average (.288) and runs scored (16)...had two hits in first collegiate game with an RBI against Marshall (3/3)...tallied two RBI against Indiana (3/12)...went 2-4 against Tennesee-Chattanooga...totaled two hits with an RBI against Rutgers (3/25)...had a breakout game against Villanova (3/26) with three RBI and two home runs...went 2-3 driving in three runs against Holy Cross (3/29)...totaled three hits including a double with three RBI and a home run against Boston University (4/18)...posted a season-high four RBI's off two hits against Dartmouth (4/20)...was 2-3 with 3 RBI's against Seton Hall (4/22).

High School: Four-time letterwinner at Tewksbury Memorial High School...a 2001 MVC All-Star...Named a Lowell Sun All-Star in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005...2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 MVC All-Conference captain in 2005...named to Boston Globe second team in 2004...also earned three varsity letters in field hockey...was MVC All-Conference as a senior in field hockey...graduated with a 3.9 GPA...earned academic honors throughout high school.
