Huskies Drop Final Game at FAU Strike-Out Cancer Tournament

Duclos and the Huskies fall 1-0 to North Florida.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Connecticut softball dropped its final game of the FAU Strike-Out Cancer Tournament with a 1-0 loss to North Florida as the Huskies fall to 5-4 on the season, while NFU improved to 12-4 overall.

For the second consecutive contest the Huskies were a part of a pitching duel with only nine total hits as North Florida outhit the Huskies 6-3 Sunday morning. Despite UConn committing three errors, the Ospreys lone run was earned after posting three hits in the bottom of the fourth to set the final score at 1-0.

Andrea Huelsenbeck, Brittany Duclos and Kim Silva each notched a run in the Huskies’ loss. Kiki Saveriano was dished the loss and moves to 3-1 on the season. Saveriano allowed one earned run on six hits and struck out six batters.

The Huskies will once again be in Florida next weekend when they travel to the UCF Spring Fling for five contests.
