    Pride Blanks Huskies 3-0 In Game One Of Hofstra Tourney

    HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - For the second-straight game, the University of Connecticut was only able to manage one hit while ending with a shut out, this time against Hofstra in game one of the Hofstra Tournament, Saturday.

    The Huskies lone hit came via a double, for the second-straight time, this time Brittany Duclos (Mystic, Conn.) got the extra bagger in the sixth inning.

    Connecticut drops to 6-11 on the year while the Pride improve their record to 11-4.

    The Huskies were only able to get three runners on throughout the game. Amy DeLuca (Bordentown, N.J.) reached safely in the first inning for the Huskies after a fielding error on the Pride third baseman Krista Thorn. DeLuca was unable to get past first base after a groundout to short ended the inning.

    Amanda Martin (Rowley, Mass.) was the second Husky to reach base as she began the sixth inning off with a walk. After Duclos' double, which broke up a no-hit bid, Martin reached third safely but could not cross the plate for the Huskies.

    Freshman pitcher Olivia Galati threw the one-hitter for the Pride finishing the game with 10 strikeouts in her home debut.

    The Huskies are back in action later Saturday when they finish out their doubleheader with a game against Boston University at 3 p.m.
