WEST HARTFORD, Conn.- The UConn softball team blanked the Hartford Hawks on Thursday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over its intrastate foe. The Huskies (17-16, 3-5 BE) outhit the Hawks 5-4 with five Huskies each registering a hit.
Katelyn Callahan (1-1) threw four innings on Thursday earning her first win of the season allowing only two hits and no runs, while striking out four batters. Alyson Ambler walked away with her second save of the season after relieving Callahan and pitching three innings and allowing no runs.
Guches continued to be a force for the Huskies as she recorded two RBI and she currently leads the team with 27 RBI.
The Huskies will travel to Louisville for a three-game conference series against the Cardinals this weekend when they play a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and a single game on Sunday at noon.
