MYERS, Fla. - The UConn softball team continues its busy travel schedule this weekend when it plays in the FGCU/Four Points by Sheraton Invitational, competing in five games over a three-day stretch against FGCU, Southern Illinois, Wright State and Stony Brook.

The Huskies (5-4) are coming off a split weekend in the Battle at the Beach Tournament, most recently earning a doubleheader sweep against Robert Morris and Rider on Sunday. UConn looks to continue the momentum at the FGCU Softball Complex.

Pitching has been the strength for the Huskies through the first two weekends, as the staff's combined ERA is an impressive 1.71. As a team, UConn boasts a 65-16 strikeout-to-walk ratio and is holding opposing hitters to a .192 batting average.

Senior infielder Emma Stanley enjoyed a nice weekend in Conway, S.C., as she hit .500 at the dish (6-for-12) and was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll on Monday morning. She joins sophomore Kiwi McDaniel to earn the distinction in the first two weeks.

The Huskies have limited experience against their four opponents, as they trail FGCU (0-3) and Southern Illinois (0-3) in their respective all-time series. UConn holds a 1-0 edge over Wright State and has never played Stony Brook.

Freshman pitcher Marybeth Olson is 2-1 in six appearances, allowing just one earned run in 17.1 innings (0.40 ERA) and posting a 21-1 strikeout-to-walk comparison. She has been a key part to UConn's early successes in the circle, holding opponents to a team-best .164 batting average.

Olson and senior pitcher Chelsea Eckert tossed back-to-back complete-game shutouts on Sunday in the Battle at the Beach Tournament. In a 1-0 win over Robert Morris, Olson struck-out nine and surrendered just two hits in seven innings of work. Later that day, Eckert had a career-high 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 victory over Rider. The UConn pitching staff has accounted for three shutouts this season.

Freshman catcher Devon Casazza smacked the first home run of the season for UConn - which proved to be the deciding run - in Sunday's 1-0 win over Robert Morris. In her freshman season, Casazza was second on the team with four homers - as part of UConn's 23 as a team.

In the coming weeks, UConn will compete in the I-75 Challenge in Atlanta, Ga. (March 2-4), the Oklahoma State Hall of Fame Classic in Oklahoma City, Okla. (March 9-13) and the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas (March 16-17). American Athletic Conference action begins on March 23 at USF.
