STORRS, Conn.- The UConn softball squad returns to Storrs on Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. contest against UMass. The Huskies enter the game with a 13-13 (1-2 BE) mark following their opening conference weekend at Rutgers where the team went 1-2. The Minutewomen come into Storrs owning a 6-16 (3-1 A10) and are riding a four-game win streak.

O'Donnell's Homerun Lifts UConn Over UMass, 5-3
The Huskies continued to utilize home field advantage defeating Massachusetts, 5-3, to stretch their home win streak to four. UConn's freshman shortstop Emily O'Donnell lifted the Huskies to the victory with her two-run blast over center field against one of the nation's top hurlers Sara Plourde. Connecticut improves to 14-14 (3-3 BE) and UMass falls to 16-11 (4-0 A10) following Tuesday's contest.

The Huskies are 0-1 on their home field in 2013 following a 4-3 loss to Quinnipiac last week. Connecticut is 41-44-1 all-time against UMass as the two schools have met 86 times.

As a team, UConn maintains a batting average of .267 with Kim Silva leading the way with a .364 batting average. Silva is second on the team with 28 hits, second in runs scored with 12, has hit two homeruns and registered nine RBI. Maddy Schiappa has a team-best 32 hits and team-high 13 runs scored en route to a .333 batting average, while Marissa Guches leads the group with 16 RBI.

In the circle, the Huskies are led by senior righty Kiki Saveriano (10-4) who boasts a 1.57 ERA which is currently third in the BIG EAST.
