-- After seven consecutive weekends on the road to open the 2015 campaign, the University of Connecticut softball team is set to host its home opener on Friday, April 3 as part of a three-game series with conference foe USF. The Huskies and Bulls will square off in a doubleheader at Burrill Family Field on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. before rounding out the weekend series with an 11 a.m. Saturday contest.

Huskies Swept by Bulls in Sunday Loss, 8-0
The UConn softball team was unable to continue momentum from a big seventh inning rally in the latter game of a doubleheader against USF yesterday, falling to the Bulls on Sunday, 8-0.

UConn (10-21) dropped a hard-fought midweek contest at Albany on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore RHP Kayla Doty carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before surrendering a walk-off two run shot with two down in the game's final frame. Emily O'Donnell and Taylor Townsend each recorded multiple-hit games in the setback.



The Huskies dropped their first three American Athletic Conference games at nationally-ranked Central Florida last weekend. Connecticut is 3-16 all-time against South Florida with two of its three wins coming at home. The squad's last win against its Tampa-based foes came on April 14, 2012 when the Huskies pounded out 10 hits in a 7-3 victory.

O'Donnell continued her strong senior campaign with a pair of hits against Albany on Wednesday and ranks 11thin the conference with a .340 batting average. Her 14 extra-base hits and 19 runs batted in are also team highs. On the hill, RHP Lauren Duggan is tied for eighth in the league with six wins.

USF is coming off a series win over Tulsa last weekend after taking the first two games in comeback fashion on Saturday.Karla Claudiowas the star of the weekend, hitting three home runs and driving in nine runs, earning her American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.

The Bulls sport a 30-11 overall record, including a 20-4 record in the month of March.

Connecticut owns a 26-24 overall record at its home facility since the start of the 2012 campaign.
