Fresh off its first shutout of the season, the University of Connecticut softball team continues American Athletic Conference play when it hosts Memphis for a three-game set a on April 11-12. Due to unplayable field conditions at Burrill Family Field, the series will be played at Mansfield Outdoor Athletic Complex. The Huskies and Tigers will play game one on Saturday at 7 p.m. before rounding out the weekend with a doubleheader at Sunday starting at 10 a.m.

UConn Softball Picks Up First Conference Win
The University of Connecticut softball team picked up its first American Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon at Burrill Family Field when it downed Memphis, 4-1, behind a 7.0 inning, one-run performance from junior RHP Lauren Duggan. With the win, the Huskies jump to 6-20 this season while Memphis falls to 13-19.

UConn (12-22) won its second-straight game on Thursday, topping URI, 8-0, in six innings on the road. The team collected a season-best 15 hits in the win, including three hit afternoons from both Alyson Ambler and Emily O'Donnell. Senior righty Lauren Duggan (7-9) grabbed her team-leading seventh win, spinning five scoreless innings of one-hit ball.

The two squads met for the first time in the 2014 campaign in a rain-shortened two game series in which the Huskies took both games.

UConn owns a 5-4 all-time record against schools from the state of Tennessee, including wins in three of the last four contests.

Junior SS Lexi Gifford, who was selected to The American's honor roll earlier this week, is hitting .400 in her last five games (6-for-15) with two home runs and a team-best six runs scored.

Memphis enters the weekend series with a 13-20 overall record and a 1-5 mark in league play. Sophomore OF Lindsay Crowdus has been the Tigers' most consistent player throughout the 2015 campaign, leading the team in batting average (.340), hits (34), and total bases (44). On the hill, the Memphis staff owns a 4.75 team ERA with 166 strikeouts in 210.2 innings pitched.
