UConn Softball Drops Series Finale Against Houston On Sunday
Junior pitcher Lauren Duggan recorded nine strikeouts in a seven inning effort, but the University of Connecticut softball team dropped their third straight to conference rival Houston Cougars on Sunday, 8-4, at Burrill Family Field.

UConn (15-24, 3-5 The American) is coming off a 3-1 loss against in-state rival Central Connecticut on Wednesday despite a complete-game performance from freshman righty Chelsea Eckert. The Huskies picked up a pair of conference wins last weekend, rallying to top Memphis, 8-7, in game one of Sunday's doubleheader before walking off with a 4-3 win in the nightcap. Junior OF Alyssa Gardea become the fourth different Husky to earn a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll after hitting .444 with a pair of homeruns and six RBI over the weekend stretch.

On Tuesday, senior righty Lauren Duggan etched her name into the UConn history books by twirling the program's 37th-ever no-hitter. The feat marked the first no-hit bid for the Huskies since the 2009 season and just the third sinec the 2000 campaign.

Connecticut surpassed its 2014 win total (13) earlier this week and has already matched its number of conference wins (3) from a season ago.

The Huskies are 0-3 all-time against their Texas-based foes, including a pair of loses in conference play during the 2014 campaign.

The Cougars enter the weekend on a four-game losing streak after being swept by No. 17 UCF over the weekend. Overall, Houston owns a 19-23 record and is 4-4 in league play.

Senior 3B Emily O'Donnell ranks seventh in The American with a .355 batting average, while sophomore 2B Taylor Townsend's .438 OBP is good for the fifth-best mark in the league.
