GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The University of Connecticut softball team will play its final regular season road conference series on April 25-26 when it travels to Greenville, N.C. to take on East Carolina in a three-game set. The Huskies and Pirates will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. before finishing off the weekend slate with a 12 p.m. game on Sunday.
UConn (16-28) is coming off a 5-2 victory at Fairfield on Thursday. Juniors Lexi Gifford and Alyson Ambler each collected three hits apiece as the Huskies improved their all-time mark against the Stags to 11-3.
Earlier this week, senior RHP Lauren Duggan, who picked up her second career save on Thursday against the Stags, was placed on the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll after tossing a no-hitter against Hartford on April 14. In total, UConn boasts six weekly honor roll selections, including one in each of the past three weeks.
UConn sports a 3-3 all-time record against the Pirates. Saturday's doubleheader will mark the first conference game between the two squads since ECU joined The American prior to the 2014-15 campaign.
In the latest conference stats release, sophomore 2B Taylor Townsend checked in at No. 10 in the league with a .424 OBP, while senior 3B Emily O'Donnell ranked fifth with a 6.04 slugging percentage. On the hill, 120.1 innings rank fifth among all conference pitchers and her 61 strikeouts stand in 10th.
